FC 2 - Dulwich Hamlet
Supporters 3
WFCSAFC played their first ever game at a cold, windy
West Park and battled bravely but were beaten by a stronger Dulwich Hamlet
side.
With the support of the 8 fans who braved the morning
cold WFCSAFC started well but struggled to cut through a well organised,
tight Dulwich backline with Dulwich's fast, lone striker causing WFCSAFC's
back three problems all game.
It took some genius to open the scoring and on 20 minutes
a beautiful lob gave Paul Jones no chance. That's how things stood at
half time despite much Worthing pressure but few shots on Hamlet's goal.
The second half saw many substitutions by Worthing and
this lost their momentyum slightly as the visitos extended their lead
on 63 minutes after Hamlet's quick, young striker netted. Minutes later
Worthing clawed a goal back. Dan Earle's 25 yard free kick finding a way
through the Hamlet Keeper's legs to reduce the defecit.
With Worthing giving it their all to level things Hamlet
caught Worthing on the break and it was their pacy striker causing Green
and Dowd all sorts of problems as he twisted, turned and netted a marvellous
solo effort.
The Rebels never gave up and after presuure from corners
a consolation came, Saunders' corner met by Earle whose effort was turned
in by Morath on his own line.
Worthing had no time to force another attack and can go
away happy after a good, solid performance showing lots of promise for
the future.
