Minutes of Committee Meeting

Date: Thursday 28th November 2002

1 Apologies

1.1 SS and ES send their apologies.

2 Introduction

2.1 HB apologised for the delay in the previous minutes, paper copies were handed out to all present.

3 Previous Minutes

3.1 (4.1) PA advised an email was sent to Ruislip Manor about 4 weeks ago, detailing the friendly gesture, and with some background information. There has been no response yet, so will wait for a reply. PM advised that Paul Bucknall has no access to the internet at present, and that Ruislip Manor have had no home games for the last 3 weeks, but that they do have a social function this evening where Paul Bucknall will speak to Paul Pitfield (first team manager). PA/PM

3.2 (5.2) Player of the month has been advertised in the programme and will be again in the next one. Paul Kennett presentation to be postponed again until Lewes home game. The award for Oct/Nov will be presented at the Egham home game on the 21.12.02. SB to oversee votes and counting after the Whyteleafe game on 30.11.02.

3.3 (5.4) PA advised writing to the Directors re the 100 club is carried forward. PA

3.4 (5.6) Obtaining litter bins is carried forward in ES absence. ES

3.5 (5.7) RJ advised that following a sub-committee meeting, a Christmas social function has been put on hold for the time being, due the prohibitive costs involved in view of possible lack of support. Possible ideas for the future include a Barbecue later in the season (Easter/End of season). A replacement idea for Christmas is to nominate a pub for everyone who wishes to meet there.

3.6 (8.1) RJ has spoken to Famous Moes pizza re delivery of pizzas for sale at Brighton Reserve matches. There would be no problem in delivery, large pizzas approx £8.95. PA to speak to Ray Smith. RJ to speak to Famous Moes re the loan of a pizza bag to keep the pizza warm. Plan to start this from the 11.12.02 match. PA/RJ

4 Chairman’s Update

4.1 PA expressed his thanks to all of the committee for their hard work over the last couple of months while he has been ill.

4.2 PA advised that the noticeboards have got out of date and are due for renewal, and that BJ would like to advertise the Santa’s grotto at the salvation army. No objections ere raised. Any other local causes will be considered. Possibility of PA obtaining some literature/posters from the kick racism out of Europe campaign. PA to obtain the information. PA

4.3 PA advised he has an idea for promoting the club. His mother lives in Clydebank, whose football has ceased to exist, however Clydebank United Supporters Association (CUSA) is still selling this season’s new kit’s etc. PA has bought a shirt to support this, and CUSA want this to be photographed for them and we can put this in our programme. The club hopes to resurface in the next few years at non-league level. PA to arrange photo of Clydebank shirt with Worthing fans. PA

4.4 PA advised he has been approached by Tim Dibben (TD), a member of WFCSA, to join the Committee. Until the next AGM it was suggested that he is co-opted onto the Committee. TD was proposed by PM and seconded by RJ. All in favour. It was suggested that he may do a scratchcard for us on Saturday (30.11.02). SB to discuss with TD. SB

5 Merchandising

5.1 WFCSA now has Non-League Directories for sale. There are 20 books, of which WFCSA has 10 and the club shop has 10. WFCSA will sell to members for £12, and the club shop will sell theirs at £14. (RRP £20). We have so far sold 7.

5.2 The WFC teddy-bears will be on sale for the Egham home game on 21.12.02. HB to price them individually. HB

5.3 There are plenty of T-shirts left. PA suggested that we have a sale after Christmas of 2 T-shirts for £15. All in agreement with this. This will be from the Bromley home game onwards (28.12.02).

5.4 We will be sending out Christmas cards for the Junior members of WFCSA, similar to the design that the Committee have seen before. PA to design and print. HB to provide list of Junior members. PA

5.5 WFCSA will now be buying the Lucozade from the Youth Team upfront, since we are having no problem in selling them. SB to talk to CM. SB

5.6 The trophy for Paul Kennett has been done, and will be collected once the next one is done. HB to get 3 bottles of wine to accompany the award. HB

5.7 PA to speak to tannoy announcer to discuss promotion of WFCSA and to introduce the Association to him. PA

6 Financial Update

6.1 · Money in the Bank £722· SB for supplies £100· Current Float £70· Total £892There is nothing outstanding at present.

6.2 MW suggested we all need to think about what causes we would like to spend this money on. PA will speak to club regarding turnstiles, and whether it will be possible to obtain some free/cheap from a club moving to a new ground. All actioned to think about this for next meeting PA/ALL

7 Any Other Business

7.1 PM suggested that we give all members a free mince pie over the Christmas period. After discussion it was decided that members will get a free hot drink and mince pie. Non members may buy mince pies at 20p. SB/HB to check cost of mince pies and obtain them. PA to do a poster advertising the mince pies. PA/HB/SB

7.3 Possible date for the next quiz to be 29.01.02. RJ to speak to club. RJ

7.4 ES suggested that we decorate the tea hut for Christmas. HB to look into. HB

7.5 Next Meeting will be 09.01.03 in the Boardroom.
